Two women with glowing skin.

Your skin is completely unique to you, and when investing in a chemical peel, you shouldn’t settle for a one-size-fits-all approach. Different types of peels use a variety of different chemicals, can range in depth from light to medium to deep, and can vary in the number of peels required in a treatment plan. The options may seem overwhelming.

Hinsdale Vein & Laser offers several chemical peel options to treat your distinctive skin concerns. VI Chemical Peels offer five different formulations, targeting specific combinations of issues for a tailored approach. Our experts will discuss the different treatments available to you and develop an individualized plan.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A Chemical Peel is a common same-day procedure with little to no downtime. The face is thoroughly cleaned, and a chemical solution, usually an acid, is applied to the skin by a skilled and experienced specialist. The chemical remains on the skin for a specific amount of time, after which it is neutralized and/or cleaned off.

The acid acts to exfoliate the skin, removing the outer layers and causing the body to generate new skin cells. The result is a more radiant complexion and a reduction in imperfections. A study of VI peels showed that 90-99% of patients see reductions in acne, pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Recovery is generally brief. In the days following your chemical peel, you might see redness, mild swelling, and peeling of the skin. Our esthetician will give you detailed preparation and after-care instructions to ensure you get the best result from your chemical peel.

VI Peel Options

Each peel option is specifically formulated to address distinct skin conditions and concerns. Below are several of the options available and a brief overview of the specific problem areas each type of peel targets.

VI Peel

The VI Peel is a medium-depth peel that is a great option for first-time patients, those with sensitive skin, or as a maintenance peel. This peel fights early signs of aging and keratosis pilaris (dry, rough, bumpy patches) and improves the overall texture of the skin. It is possible to do a series of peels to get the desired results.

VI Peel Advanced

This is a more advanced peel that is ideal for those over 40 with aging skin. The VI Advanced peel targets and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

VI Peel Precision Plus

This option focuses on reducing skin discoloration. Abnormal pigmentation can be a result of UV exposure, sun damage, or inflammation. The Precision Plus peel reduces the appearance of Melasma, a skin condition characterized by patches or spots of brown or grey discoloration on the face.

VI Peel Purify

The Purify peel is a good option for patients with acne and oily skin. This peel can be an option for teen acne and breakout-prone skin.

VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus

This more advanced acne-targeting peel treats excessive oil, acne-related hyperpigmentation, and scarring. It is best for adult or hormonal acne. Not only does this peel treat the underlying acne, but it also reduces the appearance of acne scarring and discoloration.

How Do I Choose Which Chemical Peel Right for Me?

In addition to these targeted benefits, peels exfoliate the skin, prevent future acne, improve the efficacy of your regular skincare product, and give you clearer, more radiant skin. The number and frequency of peels will differ based on your individual skin and desired results.
